In the coming spring Rockstart Accelerator launches their second acceleration program that will run from March 2013 until September 2013. This year the quality of the teams and the diversity of backgrounds was considerably higher than of those in 2012; more than 400 startups from 60 different countries applied to be a part of Rockstart Accelerator 2013.

Don Ritzen, co-founder and CEO

"People often ask me: where do you find all these startups? Honestly, I'm still surprised myself about how many entrepreneurs we are able to reach through our zero-budget marketing strategies. I believe its the reward for hard work and great results of the first program. The tech community in Amsterdam has also been booming in the past year, which also helps to attract great international startups."

This year the selection of the 10 teams was partly open to the Rockstart community, that became acquainted with the finalist teams during Selection Days - a two-day event that took place in Amsterdam on February 14 and 15, 2013. During the first day the 25 finalists of the first selection round met 70+ Rockstart mentors in Zuiderkerk, Amsterdam and received individual feedback covering all aspects of their company (finance, legal, technical, business etc.). On February 15, in a closed setting startups gave their final pitch in front of a seven-member jury. The selection of the 10 startups was finalized after the final talks with the teams one week after.

Don Ritzen, co-founder and CEO:

"We're continuously looking to raise the bar at Rockstart Accelerator, from the extensive first information the startups needed to send us, to the final two days of selection: everything was more intense, more challenging for the startups, but also more personal: we took a lot more time to get to know the teams  well. We're excited because we have an extremely talented, driven and intelligent group of entrepreneurs this year: you're going to hear a lot more about them"

Rockstart Accelerator's program partners this year are Microsoft BizSpark plus, Kennedy van der Laan, HP, RSM Niehee Lancee who support the startups with their knowledge and expertise.
